  This was interesting to read about your return visit and how you set a predetermined trap for him.

  To help him in his reasoning, you got him off of what he thinks he knows (automatic robotic answer learned through high controlled meetings) to start to think outside the box.

  PS I have no idea who would give you a thumbs down. If I could give you a thumbs up, I would. Looking forward to reading about your next RV with this fellow, and hopeful for him, that he does return.

  Counter-protests to Free Speech Rally in Boston

  i never thought i would see that in the us, a "free speech rally" (which has distanced itself from and organizers have nothing at all to do with the right, republicans or extremism) is being counter protested by thousands in boston today, the counter protests being organized by a coalition of black supremacists and sjw's.. on the other hand, google is building a database of speech that doesn't align with the left-wing political values.. i'm not sure what youngsters are thinking these days, but free speech used to be the cornerstone of american civilizations only a few decades ago.

  the only way to drown out "bad" free speech is more free speech..

  I wish I had not gone to the meeting last night

  the first thing i saw when i went in was the two video screens having the watchtower singers chorus doing a number.

  the sound wasn't up enough to make out the song, but the video was grotesque.

  the singers were swaying to the music, all independent of each other, no discipline, actually sloppy-looking.

  @stuckinarut2: In hind site, looking back at what was happening at KHalls I attended and visited as husband gave talks all around is that maybe 1/2 or less are real Believers. Possibly only 1/4. (It is all debatable, yes, of course). I think there are more people sitting at the KHalls that would leave in a New York minute if they could leave without losing loved ones and friends and or inheritance.

  No one who is staying in for the above reasons is going to jeopardize their loved ones, friends or inheritance by doing eye rolls during any part of a WT/JW..org meeting. They will nod their heads and act like they need to. They will clap at conventions. They will say the meetings are great. They will say the convention is the best one ever. They will say and do what they need to do. They are caught in a trap. WT/JW..org knows this. Ultimately, WT/JW..org wants people to sacrifice their life and money... to them.

  It is hard to hear about how this religion has changed so drastically in just a few years. What hypocrites they all are! Penecostal "up beat" music? Swaying and clapping? Sounds like WT/JW..org is going the way of American mega churches... to rake in the money from poor innocents that are not educated to question anyone or anything. They are just mere slaves, doing what their human master thinks up and tells them to do. Disgusting on GB/WT/JW..org's part.

  new boy, This has been a hard read but also a very important one. You were subjected to a slave labor camp. I can't help but think WT/JW..org puts you into a Stockholm Syndrome situation. Your family, friends and congregation think, wow, so-in-so made it to Bethel! But no one really tells you what happens there. Once you are there they tell you to write home about your field service or the weather, but never talk about The Home. You experience the abuse first hand and told to keep your mouth shut. All of this strict, structured, Bethel life, must give people PTSD.

  Thank you for defying WT/JW..org rules and telling us about how life really was at Bethell.

  my wife had settled into a routine of waking up at 6am each day, cleaning (so no chance of a lie in for me or our daughter with the vacuum cleaner going), eating very little, picking the skin off her lips while she sits there in a trance obsessing over things that are out of our control and dont matter anyway.

  she never did return to work.

  Of ALL the names that WT/JW..org writers could come up with, why would they use the name Rose, in this context?

  In the movie "Citizen Kane", the writer has the male lead playing a fictional William Randolph Hearst. In it, he has this character use the word "Rose Bud" as his pet name for his mistress, Marion Davies.

  Inquiring minds wanted to know? What does Rose Bud mean???

  When I hear Wichita Lineman I tear up thinking of the long drive across the desert to go visit my big brother in Federal prison. This song was famous and played on the radio constantly. We only had a short one or two hour visit with him. It was cruel to see him in there with other young men we grew up with in our circuit.

  I can only listen to this song for a few seconds and then the pain is too great.

  so i'm an going to guess he was a functioning alcoholic... how did that work with his closest workers?

  Rutherford was a WT super star. He had handlers. And his handlers had suppliers for all of his needs, wants and any desires. Rutherford with his swagger and crudeness, like a snake oil salesman, brought in a lot of money from naive, humble folk. He sold them a dream... Millions Now Living Will Never Die... No one cared if he was drunk when he said it. They liked hearing the pretty fantasy words...

  My head hurts

  so i still have to go to meeting etc and my head hurts its just im trying to wake up and the teachings are getting shoved back in my head or with field service im giving people papers i want to rip it in my hands.. now its like i need a smoking break i have to just walk out the kingdom hall and get my mind back together.. just something thats new for me.

  It is hard for you because you just woke up to find out a big real estate company masquerading as a charitable Chistian religion has been playing with not only your life but millions of other peoples lives as well. Not nice. Scary infact. The valuable information you have in your head right now, will stop you from making bad decisions in literally giving your life away to this flip flopping, suck the life out of you, real estate empire. It was hard for all of us. We all had to fight the tide against WT brainwashing techniques. We understand where you are coming from.

  That are a lot on the board that would be so thrilled to get a "do over" from age 13 on, me included. WT/JW..org has ruined millions of lives.

  What interests you at this time or what subjects have you got lined up to study in high school? Are you interested in academics? Sports? Music? When you are at the KHall on your tablet, can you post some of those topics to follow instead of JW..org BS? The idea is to pick something that will shut out all the conflicting "noise" you hear at the hall.

  I wish none of us had to go to the kingdom hall ever so we could have lived normal, functional, lives.

  Go to school. Do home work. Play. RELAX. Not get dressed up and go sit at the Hall and be told what to do and what not to do and told no questions allowed.

  Personally, I haven't been to the hall since I read CofC by Ray Franz. To go now... and see the big TV screens and everyone using a tablet and nodding their heads along without questioning anything... I just couldn't do that.

  Please know, that we all care for you and are here for you. It is hard what you are doing... But the benefits for you being so young, you will be able to make better, more sound decisions that will affect the rest of your life, are well worth it.
